Frequent travelers like myself place value on maximizing reward points. However, I recently encountered a surprising setback while booking a flight from YVR-YQR with RBC Avion.
Despite booking a Business Class ticket (J Class), which would typically earn 150% Status Qualifying Miles (SQM) with Aeroplan, I was surprised to discover that Avion bookings do not accrue miles with Aeroplan. This was unexpected, as Avion flights are usually based on the cash price of the ticket.
This experience has led me to reconsider RBC Avion Points as a whole. It's clear that they do not offer the value I had anticipated, and as such, I will continue to use AMEX as my preferred credit card partner for maximizing travel rewards in the future."
