As a concerned parent, I received a letter from our local school district (May 14, 2025) announcing the redesign of the district logo using the Progress Pride flag and the mandatory display of the intersex inclusive pride flag in every school. I’ve since written to the School Board, my local mayor, and my local MLA. So far, no response, not holding my breath...
On May 14, 2025 I recieved a letter from the local school district as follows:
Dear Parents, Guardians, and Caregivers:
In response to the School Board’s October 2023 motions unanimously calling for “safe and welcoming learning and working environments for 2SLGBTQ+ students, staff and families”, including “increasing visibility of the district support for our 2SLGBTQ+ community”, we are excited to share with you our current initiatives.
The District Pride Logo will soon be displayed at the main entrance of all our learning and work sites, welcoming students, staff, and visitors. The creation of our District Pride Logo was a collaboration between a former student, Kayden Russell-Black, and District staff. Kayden initially designed a Pride Logo utilizing the colours of the Progress Pride Flag to recreate the official School District Logo. He then worked with staff to learn about design requirements and ensure that the final product reflected the spirit of his original creation. We are thrilled to be able to feature a student’s efforts as a symbol of inclusion throughout our District!
Additionally, each school has been issued a Pride Flag (the Intersex-Inclusive Progress Flag) to be displayed indoors in a space where all our students and staff, and many who visit, will see it, reinforcing the district’s support and commitment to 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion.
We look forward to our District’s continued growth and development as we learn about, respect, and celebrate our wonderfully diverse community.
Best wishes,
My response: Letter sent to School Board, Mayor and MLA (May 26, 2025). As of today June 1, 2025, I have no response. I am doubtful I will receive anything back, so will pray and intercede for these people. I believe this is very much a spiritual battle in our community. 2 Corinthians 10:4 - "The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds."
To the Members of the School Board,
As a result of your email last week (attached in PDF) I am writing to formally express deep concern, and strong opposition to the continued presence and promotion of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) initiatives within our public schools including the rebranding of our school districts logo and raising of flags that are of no nature relevant to children in our school systems.
Let me be clear: I fully support kindness, dignity, inclusivity, and respect for all people, I have many friends who identify within the LGBT community, which I respect and have spent over 20 years working in public libraries across Canada and the world which are some of the most inclusive environments that exist. But what’s happening in our school system today is not about respect or inclusion. It’s an ideological overreach. It’s cancellation, not freedom of expression.
At my child’s kindergarten orientation, I was stunned to see a trans flag placed on every chair in one of the kindergarten classrooms. Who approves this? This is not academic freedom! Pride flags are already everywhere, you’ve pasted it on the sidewalk in front of elementary schools. SOGI language and symbols dominate classrooms. Holidays like Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are cancelled but replaced by Pride Week and parades. Is this balanced education or forced conformity? We can go into holidays such as Christmas as well, not to sideline this discussion – however I can tell you when a video went home of my child doing Indian dancing at Christmas, while avoiding Christmas all together, I was rather offended.
This is not inclusion. It is the replacement of long-standing values, imposed without room for alternative perspectives. And when dissent is silenced, it’s no longer education it’s clear cut indoctrination.
In Psychology, we learn about the Illusionary Truth Effect which is when repeated messages, especially to impressionable children, become their perceived reality, even it is not what is actual. If a young child sees the same ideological symbols and messaging every day, they eventually accept it as truth, even if it contradicts basic biological reality. This manipulation of impressionable minds is deeply concerning.
We all know there are only two genders male and female. Because I claim to identify as a rock doesn’t make me one. A boy who is gentle or likes to play with dolls is still a boy. He deserves space to grow without being pushed toward labels or agendas. If, as an adult, someone reaches a point where they understand who they are and choose to live a certain way, that’s their decision and entitled to live the life they choose. That being said, Schools have no business forcing premature discussions or influencing identity before a child is even old enough to grasp the basics of who they are.
Schools should be teaching healthy gender development, not to enforce rigid roles, but to help children understand who they are, their purpose, and how to grow into young people of character.
For boys: encouraging confidence, responsibility, strength with kindness, and leadership.
For girls: supporting self-worth, resilience, care for others, and inner strength.
This is not about stereotypes. It’s about recognizing that boys and girls are different by design and supporting children to thrive in that reality. What ever happened to “Love the Skin You’re In”?, that’s what we were taught when I was a kid!
It’s time to stop politicizing classrooms. The government and schools have no authority to interfere with childrens ‘biological’ identity or push adult ideological views onto young minds. Children need stability, not confusion. Critical Thinking and Literacy. Please get back to How to Think, rather than What to Think.
As a father, I will continue to teach my sons to love their neighbours and treat every person with respect, regardless of background, orientation, or belief. But I will also raise them to stand firm in truth and moral conviction, so they grow up grounded, not swayed by falsehoods, lies, and twisted ideologies being used in our schools.
I urge the school board, our city leadership, and our provincial representatives to take immediate action to halt these initiatives and return to a system that reflects real diversity of thought, balance, academic integrity, and RESPECT FOR ALL.
Respectfully,
**If you share my concerns, whether you're from my community or not. I urge you to write to the School Board, the Mayor’s Office, and your local MLA. I also encourage you to pray and intercede for all educators, trustees, and decision-makers responsible for guiding our public education system in this city and province.
